Will our family and friends approve?
We live in an increasingly mobile society. Our friends and family are spread all across the country. For example, the bride is originally from Pittsburgh, the groom from D.C., both now live in Denver, their siblings are in Chicago and Sacramento, their long time friends are in San Diego, New Orleans, and D.C., and their parents have retired to Southern Florida and Phoenix… what better place to have the wedding than Cancun, Mexico (true story!!) Everyone can meet in the middle and have a great time!! Can you think of a better way to celebrate your union than with all the people who are most special to you meeting and celebrating together in Mexico?
This family obviously approves of a destination wedding!

Mexico is a quick hop (most flights are non-stop via Frontier Airlines from Denver). It is a destination known for its beautiful beaches, breathtaking golf courses, luxurious spas, diverse aquatic activities, archaeological sites, top-notch service, hospitality, and value. When you are asking friends and family to travel to your destination wedding, why not make it an attractive, affordable, and easy sell.
Where else could you do the wedding toast with 2 shots of tequila?

The Caribbean destinations of Jamaica, the Bahamas, Antigua, and St. Lucia, are exotic, decadent destinations, offering one-of-a-kind ultra inclusive resorts such as Couples and Sandals, and the incredible family-oriented Beaches resorts. When you want a beautiful beach option, impeccable service, and less restrictive legal wedding requirements, the Caribbean cannot be beat.
How far in advance should we plan our destination wedding?
Out of courtesy for your guests, giving them sufficient notice will increase the odds that they can properly budget for and set aside vacation time for the event. Another thing to consider when planning your wedding includes availability at your destination. With the popularity of destination weddings on the rise, sites are increasingly becoming booked sooner. Lastly, the larger the event the more time should be allowed to accommodate for your groups’ rooms at your destination of choice. Where possible give yourself and your guests a minimum of 4-6 months in advance.
Why book our destination wedding with Destination Celebrations?
The most poignant comparison is why shop at Nordstrom’s? It’s all about over the top service. We strive to leave no detail left undone and to send you to destinations with the same top-notch, personalized level of service that we provide (and as customers that we seek ourselves). We treat your event as one of our own.
Other great reasons to utilize our services include the following:
We are certified as Destination Specialists in Mexico and as Lifestyle Specialists in Honeymoons and Destination Weddings. We bring our expertise and passion to the table.
We believe your wedding is a personal experience that deserves personalized attention. Unlike large Destination Wedding web-based travel companies who work with hundreds of couples per month from a distance, we are right here. As a small, woman-owned, Denver-based company, our goal is to meet face-to-face with each couple and work with them personally. Getting married at a foreign destination can involve many unknowns. We take the unknown and fear out of the equation.
We are more than a travel agent booking rooms and flights. As your Denver-based destination wedding consultant, Destination Celebrations acts as a liaison between you (& your guests), and the wedding coordinator/resort at your Mexican destination. We have been to many of the resorts we represent to tour the sites and personally meet the Coordinadores de Bodas (Wedding Coordinators). We are your link.
Finally, as the founder of Destination Celebrations, LTD., I have a special appreciation for the trusting relationship that must exist between the couple and the wedding consultant. I myself was married at Dreams Cancun, and have the personal experience and contacts required to make your planning process fun, exciting, and stress-free.
ABSOLUTELY!! A significant benefit offered by the luxury, all-inclusive, family resorts we represent is the complimentary kids club programs. If you or your guests are traveling with kids, you can still have your adult time. While the kids are having fun swimming, climbing the rock wall, doing the bungee, making new friends, and learning about the Mexican culture, the adults can relax, play hard, or enjoy a romantic respite.
Do you offer wedding packages with Adults Only resorts?
We currently arrange adults-only destination weddings at Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, Secrets Capri near Playa del Carmen, and at the Adventura Spa Palace in the lower Riviera Maya. We will be adding other adults only resorts to our mix in the very near future.
Will we have a Wedding Coordinator to assist with the ceremony and reception at our destination?
All the resorts we utilize offer the services of a wedding coordinator. While on-site, he or she will be there throughout your wedding and reception. The coordinators all carry pagers and are available to assist you in any way. Keep in mind that there are often several weddings occurring on the same day and the wedding coordinator is dividing her time among multiple clients. This is where Destination Celebrations can provide invaluable service, preparing you for your destination event. Finally, should you have a large group or feel more comfortable having a Destination Celebrations consultant at your event, we are here to accommodate all your needs.
When you get married in a tropical climate, storms happen. We can certainly advise you when the risk of rain (or hurricanes) is greatest at a given destination, but contingency plans are in order. This is where the benefit of Destination Celebrations’ knowledge and experience come into play. You need to know your options. When the rains come, you do not want the wedding coordinator in Puerto Vallarta to guide you into the windowless banquet room to exchange your vows, or into the buffet restaurant for your reception. After all, you have come all that way to make the beach a part of your event. We can negotiate your options up front. In this Cancun wedding, the party arrived 4 days after Hurricane Emily. The rain bands were still circling Cancun on the day of the wedding. In lieu of a ceremony in a windowless meeting room, the ceremony took place in the breath taking lobby of the Club Tower with a panoramic view of the Ocean.

Some of the resorts can accommodate 20 - 50 people in select, covered, fine dining restaurants, overlooking the ocean, but others have stricter requirements to not displace the other guests from any of their dining options. We can advise you, of all your options, by site, before you select your destination.
In order to protect your self against the unthinkable, we also offer travel insurance which covers against hurricanes ;-)! We are only a phone call, email, or text message away, to assist you in your time of need. Do not leave yourself unprotected and without options... that's why we are here!!
Does Destination Celebrations coordinate weddings at destinations which are not all-inclusive?
Our mission is to provide a stress-free, luxurious, decadent, yet affordable destination wedding option for you… and of course for your guests. We believe in the luxury all-inclusive option because of the value it presents to you and those who set aside their precious time and valuable vacation money to join you at this very special and important moment in your life. The full-service, luxury all-inclusive resorts we represent are distinguished by their rigorous standards of excellence. Their amenities, service, and breathtaking locations cannot be matched. The destinations and resorts present different options for those who desire a peaceful remote location, or those who want to be a 5 minute cab ride from the action. With our knowledge of the resorts, the destinations, and your interests at heart, we can help you find the perfect fit for a destination wedding filled with wonderful, life long memories.
As Destination Specialists in Mexico and the Caribbean, we are familiar with other European Plan style luxury resorts that provide a la carte wedding and lodging options. Should this be your preference, we would be happy to refer you to one of our colleagues at these destinations.
Keep in mind that the wedding packages available at the luxury all-inclusive resorts we work with represent an incredible value and do allow for customization. When you take the a la carte path, that value for you and your guests is greatly diminished. Aside from your wedding costs sky rocketing, this presents the age old problem of separate checks at group dinners. Keep it seamless, simple, and minimize your stress… GO ALL-INCLUSIVE!!
For those who like to venture out and feel that all-inclusives can be confining, no worries!! We recommend and can arrange dining, sports, cultural, and other fun activities outside of the resort for you and your guests so you experience the best of both worlds.
What are the legal requirements when getting married in Mexico? and the Caribbean?
In Mexico, you must be in the country for four days prior to being legally married. This is called the "waiting period." A blood test must also be taken a medical professional at the resort. Alternatively, couples may marry legally within the states and hold a symbolic ceremony in Mexico.
In Jamaica, couples can be married within 24 hours of arrival, provided they have applied for a marriage license in advance.
For more specific details on marriage requirements in other Caribbean destinations please contact a Destination Specialist.
